My first healing took place over eight years ago. I was suffering from a strained back, and after medical treatment I was no better. I then asked help from a Christian Science practitioner, and was healed in a few hours. Some time later, I suffered from violent headache and face ache. As I had become interested in Christian Science and had gained some understanding of it, I tried to help myself, but was no better. I again asked help of a practitioner, who worked faithfully for me, off and on, for some months, but I got very little relief. The suffering at times seemed unbearable. I could not sleep, and lost a great deal of time from work. I again turned to doctors and drugs and, at their advice, had a lot of sound teeth extracted. I had ten doctors in all, including two specialists, who told me they did not know what my trouble was and could do nothing more for me. By this time I was very much discouraged, for I had spent about three months in bed and was no better.

I realized then that God was the only power, and that I must put all my trust in Him who is the great Physician. This healing was very slow, but there was gradual improvement; and I was completely healed nearly five years ago. After I had been a few weeks under Christian Science treatment a doctor who had treated me and had shown much sympathy for me, happening to meet me told me that I looked like a new man. He asked me what I had done. When I said I was under Christian Science treatment he told me to continue with it.
