I wish to express through the periodicals my deep gratitude for what Christian Science has done for my family and for me, as we have received many wonderful healings and blessings through the study and application of its teachings.

Among many interesting experiences the following stands out as being a remarkable proof of the ever-presence, power, and protection of God, and of His care for His children. It was midwinter, and I was down a well thawing a frozen pump, using gasoline for the work. An explosion occurred, and I stood in a flame of fire that reached above my head. It took me some time to get out of the flaming pit, and though my clothes were hardly touched, my hand was so badly burned that part of the flesh came off and I was in agony for a while. My wife wrapped up my hand and we both declared the truth as we understood it in Christian Science, and in a short time the pain ceased. This occurred during the noon hour, and after eating my dinner, I was able to go back to my work on time. I was employed as foreman for a railroad company in their maintenance-of-way department, and my work was necessarily all outside work. I was able to perform my duties as usual, and without my superior officers even knowing that I had been injured. I relied entirely on Christian Science for healing. No material remedies were used, and with the help of my wife and a Christian Science practitioner I continued to improve, and in a short time new flesh and skin were growing on my hand, which was fully restored and healed.

For this physical healing I am indeed grateful, but the moral and spiritual benefits received are of greater consequence to me, as I now enjoy a more harmonious home life than I ever knew before becoming interested in Christian Science. It is impossible to express the fullness of my joy in finding this truth. The understanding of God as infinite good, divine Love, and of man as His image and likeness, and the knowledge that the real universe is harmonious, are indeed full of glorious comfort. I realize that I still have a long way to go on my journey from sense to Soul, but I look forward with great rejoicing, remembering that I have joined the followers of Christ Jesus, the Way-shower.
