Several years ago Christian Science was proved to us to be the law of God when our infant son was relieved instantly from pain. About a month later a large growth on the side of my neck, which had caused me much suffering, was completely removed in three treatments from a Christian Science practitioner. At that time I severed my connection with the church I had been attending, and shortly afterwards became a member of the Christian Science church, both The Mother Church and a branch church.
Since then we have had many healings, including the healing of children's diseases, and also the removal of a fibroid tumor entirely through the operation of Truth. Each day Christian Science grows more precious to us as it is showing us how to meet every problem, financial, physical, or temperamental.
From the first I found Christian Science satisfying to the intellect; and, because it appeared so reasonable, I sometimes claimed the vision on the mountain top before I had proved it in the valley. Recently I saw more clearly than ever that when we, like the sons of the prophets who dwelt with Elisha, seek to enlarge our dwelling place, our consciousness of God, we often try to use borrowed ideas. Then, like the ax head, they are temporarily lost until a larger understanding and further proving have restored them to us. I am growing in gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy, our Leader, in appreciation of the blessings of class instruction, and of the privilege and opportunity to serve in God's vineyard.
