About twenty-five years ago I was an earnest worker in a Presbyterian church. I had long been dissatisfied with its teachings. I was sick in mind and body, and the doctors and their medicine did not help. I needed spiritual healing, but could not find it. One day, when I was in my garden feeling discouraged and miserable, for it seemed to me that we were not teaching in our Sunday school the lessons our Lord and Saviour had taught, a neighbor came to the fence and asked me what was the trouble. I told her. She lovingly said, "I have here just what you are looking for," and she handed me a Christian Science Sentinel and told me about her healing. I had never heard about Christian Science before, but was very glad to listen. This neighbor lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I began to study it together with the Bible. Soon it became a pearl of great value to me.

The first healing I received was a wonderful demonstration and brought great peace of mind. I had wanted to do as Jesus had said that all Christians should do. I was teaching a class of boys in the Sunday school at this time, but felt that I could not continue to teach in the way I was expected to, so I gave this up. Shortly afterwards I was healed of quinsy sore throat to which I had been subject all my life. Later I was cured of malaria and rheumatism, both difficulties of long standing, and of an internal trouble which the doctors could not cure. One of my children was healed of spasmodic croup in its worst form. In twenty-five years none of these ailments have returned. A little grandchild was healed of pneumonia in three days. Recently I have been healed of cataract in its first stage through Christian Science, and have required that only adjustments of my glasses be made by an optician.

We have had innumerable healings through Christian Science and are still receiving blessings every day. I cannot express my gratitude for the teachings of Mrs. Eddy. She has taught me to pray to God aright, and the spiritual uplift is wonderful. I am deeply grateful for all that Christian Science is doing all over the world.
