Many years ago I heard of Christian Science through a friend who gave me some pamphlets which I eagerly studied. I found it all very beautiful, but it seemed like a lovely theory which I could not practice. Evidently I was not ready to accept the truth. Not until ten years later did I arrive at that point. I had then drifted into darkness, and not seeing any way out I was down physically and mentally, a veritable picture of fear and weakness.

But "man's extremity is God's opportunity." The seed of Truth had been sown, and it began to grow. In my despair I reached out for Christian Science, bought a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to study earnestly. As I now was receptive, Christian Science became to me something new. I had a glimpse of God's universe, of infinity, and I was almost overwhelmed. Mortal mind tried to tell me that this was too good to be true, and I had a hard battle to fight, a battle in which fear and doubt seemed to prevail for a long time. But I clung steadfastly to the little I had grasped of Truth, and this finally led me to victory.

To the loving practitioner who with great patience stood at my side and helped me out of mental darkness, I feel very grateful. My healings have usually been slow; but I am grateful that this has been so, because it has led me to cope with error more thoroughly. Doubts have step by step given way, and I have gained confidence and a firm conviction that to Truth there are no obstacles.
