Words cannot express my gratitude for Christian Science,...
Words cannot express my gratitude for Christian Science, for it has done so much for me. My first healing came in 1923, and was received in two treatments. I had suffered with asthma for years. I was told when a child that I Would outgrow this condition, but after I had grown up it became wrose. After suffering an unusually serve attack, which listed for three weeks, during which time I ate very little and coughed constantly, I decided to seek help from a Christian Science practitioner. After the first treatment I regained my appetite, slept normally, and was able to walk from the car line to my home, a distance of several blocks, with no exhaustion and no difficulty in breathing. Before this, I had had to stop and rest on the way and was worn out when I reached home.
I was also healed of catarrh, nervousness, and a sense of anxiety. These healings all came after the first two treatments, and for a year and a half I was entirely free. At that time I was also healed of a severe sore throat, and I learned then "that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God," for I ate very little for a week, continued my work, and never felt hungry. This meant much to me, and it has helped me in other demonstrations.
Another healing for which I am very grateful was at the birth of our son. There were no inharmonious conditions, and the physician in charge made favorable comments about this. When my baby was ill for several months, requiring my entire attention, I was wonderfully sustained; and I had much to overcome in this experience as my relatives and friends were all opposed to Christian Science. I learned, however, that, in absolute Science, God is my only relative and friend.
