In your issues of March 15 and 22 there appear synopses of a sermon-lecture by a clergyman on the subject of "Christian Science," or what he mistakenly imagines Christian Science to be.

Christian Science healing differs from all other mental methods in that in the Mind of Christ, the divine Mind is utilized to destroy the error. Other systems use the so called human mind in the attempt to destroy its own discords. The two methods are clearly set forth in the twelfth chapter of Matthew, in which, speaking of his own healing practice, Christ Jesus says, "If I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you." Later he reveals the method of the carnal mind in the words: "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first."

Christian Science is the philosophy of Christ Jesus; and to those who understand it, it is demonstrable and regenerative. It has been accepted by many serious thinkers throughout the civilized world. As a religion, it is Christian and fulfills the commands of the Founder of Christianity to heal the sick as well as to preach the gospel. As a method of healing, it is the most successful known to men to-day.
