All that I am to-day, and all the happiness I have, I owe...
All that I am to day and all the happiness I have, I owe to the teachings of Christian Science and to the patient, loving practitioners and friends who have helped me along the way. My thought was awakened through the example, expressed in gentleness and loving patience, of a dear one who had become a member of our household. My four children loved her and always showed the greatest desire to please and obey her. This was so different from their attitude toward others that I marveled. Finally I questioned her, and my interest was aroused; and when there came a test I turned to her for guidance. It was God's will, not mine, that could and would solve the problem, she told me, and when after a three days' battle with self I could honestly say, "Thy will be done," the problem was solved.
That was the turning point of my life, and I can never cease to be grateful for the experience which opened my eyes to the light of Christian Science. I then began to study Christian Science, but not seriously or earnestly until we began to lose our material belongings: our home, domestic happiness, money everything went with the exception of my children and my faith and trust in God, divine Love. As the trials went on,—and there were many,—my understanding grew. Then came the period of reconstruction on a new foundation.
During this time it was the wonderful patience of a loving practitioner, who was always guiding my stumbling footsteps, always encouraging me and turning my mental eyes in the right direction, that helped me toward the goal. And in proporation as the mental vision cleared, was the needed supply demonstrated, according to the words of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in her wonderful book"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," on page 494, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Then we found a home; the family was reunited, and with this came a great sense of harmony, health, peace, and gratitude.
