"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want"

According to a dictionary, "want" is a "state or fact of not having; ... absence or scarcity of what is needed or desired; lack; dearth."

Can there be an absence of any good thing in God's kingdom? There cannot be, and there is not. We know that God, Spirit, made all that is real, and is All, and that the real man is the image and likeness of perfect Spirit. Therefore, what can God's man want, or lack, or need?

A shepherd guards his little flock and provides for all its needs, large and small. Does not the great Shepherd do likewise? It is divinely natural that the Father of all should protect His children and supply their needs. We must know, however, and recognize that these supplies from Him are not material things, but spiritual thoughts or ideas. Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307), "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies."
