My attention has been called to part of a sermon published in your esteemed paper of November 25, in which a pastor says a Christian Scientist he once knew "never spoke of salvation. He had no Christ." This implies that Christian Science affords no means of deliverance from evil.

Will you kindly grant me space to say for the information of such of your readers as may have read the above reference to Christian Science, that Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has stated that the Bible was her only authority. Hence, Christian Science is based entirely on the Bible, and particularly on the teachings of the Master. Therefore, the means of salvation available to any other Christian are just as available to the Christian Scientist. But the Christian Scientist has been taught to make practical use of these means, and in doing so he is overcoming sickness and sin for himself and for others. Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." In other words, a Christian, according to the test fixed by Jesus, is one whose claim to that name is to be determined by his good works rather than by his good words. On page 15 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "Practice not profession, understandign not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and they assuredly call down infinite blessings."
