About seven years ago, after a sentence of death had been pronounced on me several years before, the difficulty being cancer of the stomach, I became very ill and the doctors diagnosed the trouble as a tumor on the brain. After suffering intense pain for about five weeks, not being able to retain any food, and the doctors being powerless to relieve me, I seemed to be very near the death valley. However, I asked for and received Christian Science treatment and was healed. I have been able to lay aside double vision glasses which had been worn for about thirty-five years, and have been freed from many other inharmonious conditions through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Some unlovely traits of character, such as jealousy, self-pity, self-righteousness, sensitiveness, self-consciousness, and so forth, have been largely overcome, and I am grateful to our dear Father-Mother God for a little understanding of this blessed truth.

I am also grateful to the dear ones who first presented Christian Science to me, and to the many friends who have helped me on the way; for membership in The Mother Church; and for the privilege of serving in a branch church.
