Lecturer: John Ellis Sedman; introduced by Chancellor L. Jenks, who said:—

Jesus so stirred the people by giving sight to the man who had been born blind, and by raising Lazarus from the dead, that the Pharisees cried out in consternation, "Behold, the world is gone after him"! Christ Jesus ushered in the age which has been named the Christian era. The present time is well described as the new Christian era, for it is marked by a greater interest in Christ Jesus than has prevailed since he trod the paths of Palestine.
