Harvesting the Fruits of Christian Science

"To develop the full might of this Science, the discords of corporeal sense must yield to the harmony of spiritual sense," writes our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on page viii of the Preface to the texbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Unless, therefore, the discords encountered in daily living are yielding to spiritual harmony, we are not gaining the fruits that a study of Christian Science should bring to the earnest seeker; and the only way out of this condition is through increased consecration.

The testimonies of help and healing contained in the chapter on Fruitage in Science and Health, beginning on page 600, and in the closing chapter of "Miscellaneous Writings," bear witness that an understanding of the fundamentals of Christian Science gained through reading the textbook heals discord and inharmony, physical ailments and moral deficiencies, quickly and effectively. Indeed, when reading these accounts one is strongly reminded of the words set down in the record of the Acts of the Apostles, "And they were healed every one."

Is it not, then, a good example for emulation, to study our textbook more assiduously, in order to bring about greater fruits? There are many periods of time in which one is not specifically employed, and periods of waiting, perhaps, in which much thinking can be done. Sometimes, however, idle, useless thoughts may crop up. Then, having our textbook at hand, turning to it, and reading a portion of it during such an interim will bring much benefit, inasmuch as one cannot help but have one's thought taken up with Truth when reading the inspired statements contained in our Leader's writings.
