Christian Science came into our family when I was ten...
Christian Science came into our family when I was ten years of age. Our home was not then a happy one, as my mother had been for several years a semi-invalid, taking medicine and drugs two or three times a day, but finding no relief. I myself was being gradually imbued with the fear of sickness which surrounded me, besides constantly having bad feverish attacks and colds which lasted on and off the whole winter. I had a very quick temper and an obstinate disposition. The physical ills were more easily overcome than the faults of character; but I am glad to say that these have been in a great measure destroyed, that we are now a healthy, happy family, and that Christian Science is everything to us.
After the war it seemed necessary to leave the place that we called our home and go to live in the country, far from our church, friends, and relatives. In this trial Christian Science was of inestimable value to me. I was quite young, and without Christian Science to help me I should have felt like being buried alive; but through looking on the bright side as much as possible, everything has now altered, and I love the beautiful country. This experience has helped me greatly to progress in Christian Science. Before this I had not taken it very seriously, but just went to it when I was in need.
About two years ago I noticed that I did not hear so well with one ear as the other. I worked about it, but it did not improve. This went on for nine months, until I found that I had got into the habit of turning my head to hear people. I then decided that that must be stopped. One morning when out for a walk I thought it well out, and then left it to divine Love. Soon afterward I noticed that there seemed to be an unusual noise as if everything were vibrating intensely. I could not at first think what had happened; but soon the light came that I was healed, and I was very grateful.
