I would appreciate the courtesy of a brief space in your publication to correct certain misstatements and erroneous impressions in a doctor's attack on Christian Science, which appeared in your issue of January 6.

The doctor's article charges that Christian Science is neither Christian nor scientific. This accusation indicates unfamiliarity with the facts. Christian Science is Christian in its very essence. To be a Christian is to be a follower of Christ Jesus, accepting his teachings and practice. This is Christian Science. Christ Jesus is acknowledged as the Son of God, the Messiah, and his work among men in ancient Galilee is accepted as the exemplification of his teachings and the model for his followers. Mrs. Eddy sets forth her appreciation of this in her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 to her followers. She says on page 34 of the Message, "Follow your Leader only so far as she follows Christ."

Christian Science is scientific. Mrs. Eddy summarizes the facts on this point on page 341 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she says: "Sneers at the application of the word Science to Christianity cannot prevent that from being scientific which is based on divine Principle, demonstrated according to a divine given rule, and subjected to proof." Christian Science is a logical analysis of the teachings and practice of Christ Jesus, an exposition of the fundamentals of these teachings and practice, and the proof thereof by demonstration.
