Prayer and Deliverance

THE Psalmist sang, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." The daily prayer of the Christian Scientist is a constant declaration of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 263), "When mortal man blends his thoughts of existence with the spiritual and works only as God works, he will no longer grope in the dark and cling to earth because he has not tasted heaven." The omnipotence and omnipresence of Truth demonstrated in daily living is the best possible declaration of "the works of the Lord," because it offers daily proof of the infallibility of the teachings of Christian Science.

A careful study of the chapter entitled "Prayer" in Science and Health shows how essential is prayer in the daily demonstration of Christian Science. The great importance which our Leader assigns to prayer is shown in her clear, positive statements explaining the nature of true prayer and its beneficent effects.
