I wish to express my gratitude for the wonderful help...
I wish to express my gratitude for the wonderful help that Christian Science has been to me for thirteen years. When it was presented to me, I had been in a state of semiinvalidism for several years, with no prospect of ever being any better. Some friends of my sister, who were studying Christian Science and knew of my condition, spoke to her about trying Christian Science, with the result that my sister and I went one morning to a branch church to find out something about it. We were met by a lady who, on finding out why we were there, loving explained something of the subject to us. It sounded so reasonable and logical that we at once accepted it as the truth. In consequence, the burden of ill health was straightway lifted from me, and I went away from there feeling like a new creature. After this I started reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and attending the church services. My husband, who had never been satisfied with the religion in which he was brought up, was very much impressed with the great change in me, and he, too, began to inquire into this new religion that brought about such wonderful results; and our four children began to attend the Sunday school.
My husband's mother, living with us, and seeming very much opposed to this teaching, told me when my husband passed on that she would not be satisfied unless the children had proper medical attention when they required it. I was very indignant over this for a time; but when the indignation was overcome, I realized that no mortal had the power to govern me, as I was governed by God. Shortly after, a great wave of love and compassion for her came over me. After thinking like this for a few minutes. I suddenly realized that I was healed of a slight obstruction. I had had in my nose for over ten years. I am so grateful to add that as I have faithfully tried to put into practice the truths we are taught in Christian Science and to reflect love, the opposition is gradually being overcome.
Another experience occurred one day when my son was riding a motor bicycle that appeared to have something wrong with it. He was going along a main road where there was a lot of traffic, so he decided to turn back to find out what the trouble was. He turned off the main road into a road devoid of traffic and was going at a good speed when suddenly a part of the machine broke, putting it out of control so that it swerved to one side, turned two somersaults, then crashed into a wall. As this was happening a voice seemed to tell him to put his hands over his head, and by doing this he undoubtedly saved his head from being smashed. As it was, he sustained only a few slight injuries, which were soon overcome with the loving help of a practitioner. This was most wonderful protection, and we cannot be too grateful to Christian Science for the understanding it gives us of the protecting power of divine Love.
