When I began the study of Christian Science the fact that...
When I began the study of Christian Science the fact that I had found the religion which has as its basis an understanding of infallible demonstrable law made me very happy. Questions which had troubled me since childhood were answered, and various symptoms of disease were overcome. At one time when I was suffering from the grippe, I had Christian Science treatment, and was free from fever in a few hours. Chilblains and open wounds on one of my legs, which troubled me every winter, disappeared permanently. Once when cooking I inadvertently poured boiling fat over my bare arm. I immediately expressed my gratitude for the omniprsence of God, and pondered "the scientific statement of being," on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. There was no pain, and no blisters formed.
Our little boy was healed of measles in one night by clinging to the truth that he is God's perfect child. Later on, when eating some fruit, he was stung on the tongue by a wasp. As there were some guests with us at the time, I withdrew with the screaming boy, and as soon as I felt at-one with ever present Truth, which destroys all error, the boy was quiet, and I could take the sting out of his tongue. There was not the slightest after effect noticeable. I could add innumerable experiences to these, and I can say that words are inadequate to express my gratitude, especially for the spiritual regeneration and uplifting which I have already experienced through the prayerful study of Christian Science.
Before I came into Christian Science I read the literature which slandered Mrs. Eddy; but the more I grasp of this teaching, the more gratitude I feel for the fact that there was a woman pure and spiritual enough to reveal to us the Christ, Truth, and its mode of application, and to protect the revelation by church organization. Furthermore, I am grateful for all authorized Christian Science literature and for class instruction, as well as for membership in a branch church and in The Mother Church.—(Mrs.) Marie Schnyder-Maeder, Zurich, Switzerland.
