The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Newcastle-on-Tyne, England (joint lecture).

Lecture: John W. Doorly; introduced by Mrs. Dora McCall, who said:—

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 224) our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has written, in loving appeal, "A higher and more practical Christianity, demonstrating justice and meeting the needs of mortals in sickness and in health, stands at the door of this age, knocking for admission. Will you open or close the door upon this angel visitant, who cometh in the quiet of meekness, as he came of old to the patriarch at noonday?" May we listen to this message of Truth with open minds and receptive hearts; so shall we be equipped to obey the call of the Christ, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden," and to receive the promised blessing, "Ye shall find rest unto your souls." It is because the study of Christian Science has brought to us so much of good that we long for the whole world to know something of the simple and divinely natural way in which Christian Science solves the everyday problems of human existence, something of how it heals.
