Most of us treasure in memory some statements of...
Most of us treasure in memory some statements of truth which have been given to us by those higher in understanding, to whom we have appealed for help. One such statement stands out very vividly in my thought, and it has been such a help to me that I am sure it will be helpful to others. One time in referring to a certain discordant condition, I remarked that it seemed as though there must be something out of place. The reply was, "Since you live, move, and have your being in God, there cannot be anything out of place in your life but error." Continued contemplation of this truth offers an ever broadening view and lends to each human experience a deeper meaning, and by the process of elimination we may eventually find nothing left but health and strength and happiness. I have reason to be deeply grateful to Christian Science and to those who have helped me to gain what understanding I have of it.
I also wish to express gratitude for the healing of a severe cough, with attendant fear and weakness and often complete loss of voice. This condition had recurred every winter for several years; and while the healing seemed to take a number of months of faithful and patient work on the part of a practitioner, it has been permanent, and for four years I have been entirely free. During this time I was healed of heart trouble, which caused frequent fainting spells and a chronic state of exhaustion.
When it had been made clear to me that it is never necessary to accept chronic conditions of weakness or suffering, a new world was opened to me; and for the first time in my life I looked forward to doing things that I had formerly believed, because of physical inability, I would never be able to do. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; for the Manual, which our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given us for our government and protection; and for the happiness which has come to me through the church activities in which it has been my privilege to serve.—(Miss) Norma Berger, Lakewood, Ohio.
