It is with deep gratitude and appreciation for the many...

It is with deep gratitude and appreciation for the many healings of sin and sickness which have come to me through the study of Christian Science that I write this testimony, hoping it may help someone by way of encouragement and assurance; also, with a great sense of humility and love to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for unfolding to us the motherhood of God and making the Bible, the book I always loved, a new book to me.

I wish to tell of my experience, about six years ago, in healing a burn. A relative came to visit us who seemed to be in a wilderness of domestic woe. Whenever I attempted to speak words of comfort to her, my lips would close, and she showed no interest in our Christian Science books. One morning early, as I was preparing to cook some cranberries, in walking across the floor I slipped and fell, my arm striking the red hot stove. The relative rushed into the room and with frightened voice exclaimed, "What shall I do for you?" I asked her to be quiet, for it would give me plenty of work to do. In twenty minutes the pain had ceased, but I had a very ugly looking arm from the wrist to the elbow. The next day we had guests for dinner, but only one person saw and spoke of my arm, although I wore short sleeves. In a few days my relative left to go to her home and husband, harmony having been restored. Her health also was greatly improved, and she accepted a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as a gift. This to me was proof of what Mrs. Eddy has written in the textbook (p. 201), "The best sermon ever preached is Truth practised and demonstrated by the destruction of sin, sickness, and death."
