At the time a friend requested me to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, about sixteen years ago, I thought I did not believe in God; but I had read only two or three pages of the book when I realized that it was the voice of God speaking to me. While I was in great need of physical healing, my only thought was to know more of God and of man as revealed through this wonderful book. I was then suffering from constipation, vomiting several times each day; also from an inside goiter for which several physicians had stated there was no known cure. The stomach and bowels ceased to give me any trouble after the first day of reading, and at the end of two weeks I discovered that the other discordant conditions had disappeared. From that time I have never had any desire for medicine or material remedies of any kind; and have not needed any, as Truth, when properly applied, has always proved a perfect remedy. I have seen members of my family healed of broken bones, torn ligaments, varicose veins which required the daily bandaging of almost the entire limb, broken arches, and chronic headaches which were so severe as to require almost constant drugging. A very badly crushed foot, which physicians placed in a cast, has been healed, the cast being removed the second day by the patient, and the foot being completely healed the twelfth day; also many other diseases and discords, as well as wrong living.

While I was enjoying the privilege of class instruction, two students related the healing and restoration of parts of fingers which had been cut off. This prepared my thought to expect a similar healing in my own home. My husband had a finger severed at about the first joint, the severed portion being completely destroyed. A physician dressed the remaining portion of the finger and stated that it would be impossible for the finger to grow again or to have a finger nail. However, my husband telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner for help and thereafter dressed his own finger; he applied no material remedy, and lost no time from his work. In a few months the part of the finger which had been destroyed was replaced, the finger becoming the same length and size as before the accident.

I desire to express my gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy; to the dear friend who brought the textbook to me and helped to encourage my first footsteps in the right direction; and to all who have helped me on the way; also, for every activity of The Mother Church and its branches, and for the literature.
