The Word of God Heals
In the book of Isaiah God's promise reads: "As the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
The writer of the epistle to the Hebrews declared "the word of God" to be "sharper than any twoedged sword." The Psalmist understood that God's power is ever present to save from trouble, for he said, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." And having faith in Christ Jesus, the centurion pleaded with the Master, "Speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." We all know the result of that spoken word.
Some may ask: What is this Word of God, and how may I understand it, that I, too, may speak the word that heals and saves, as did the prophets, Christ Jesus, and the disciples? The question is answered in Christian Science; and anyone who will study the Bible, the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, will, through the spiritual light gained therefrom, begin at once to speak God's Word with authority and with "signs following."
