Love's Care for His Own
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 151) Mrs. Eddy writes, "The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness." How comforting and uplifting is the contemplation of this wonderful statement by our Leader of God's tender care! Our Father-Mother God is ever maintaining and governing man; Love is ever imparting the knowledge of man's loving, fearless, joyous nature; Truth is ever revealing the wonderful creation which is the manifestation of His love; Life is ever perpetuating the consciousness of man's perfection and immortality. God, infinite good, is ever bestowing the consciousness that good is the only power, and ever imparting the sweet, joyous assurance that He is tenderly enfolding all in His great love.
Isaiah writes: "I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. ... In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old." The Psalmist, also glimpsing this wonderful truth of the tender care of divine Love, wrote, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
Fear disappears before the consciousness of the allness and love of God, as darkness disappears before light; for with the realization of Love's tender care comes that sense of perfect love which John said would cast out fear.
