Christian Science came into my life with its wonderful regenerating and healing power several years ago. I had been in poor health for years, was then recovering from an operation, and was often ill with gastric trouble. I was in Vancouver at the time, living as nurse in a family of Christian Scientists, where I saw the children healed very quickly of whooping cough. I never doubted that Christian Science reveals the truth; and I felt its influence so much that I asked for treatment from a practitioner, and my health improved greatly. I did not then grasp the full significance of Christian Science, and later drifted away, feeling its demands such that I could not hope to be fit to be called a Christian Scientist. Several years of increasing ill health and mental unrest passed. When in India, in 1920, after being treated in a hospital for some time for gastric ulcers and obtaining only temporary relief, and later not even that, I asked for Christian Science help once more, and received absent treatment from a Christian Scientist in Lucknow. In six weeks I was better than I had been for years. Several very happy months followed, and during this time I was healed of astigmatism and constipation.

I shall never cease to be grateful for the loving help received from the Scientist friend there, which enabled me to gain a glimpse of God as Love that sustained me through very difficult experiences. What seemed a bitter testing time followed, as one trouble after another came, and it became necessary to assume responsibilities and take up work along lines entirely different from those to which I had been accustomed. My health gave way under this, and the old trouble returned more severely, so that I felt as if I did not care to live and go on struggling. But at this time divine Love led me to a dear practitioner who patiently worked for and helped me over a long period, and taught me how to set my feet firmly on the Rock, Christ. As my thinking changed, and fear and self-condemnation were to some extent destroyed, the complete healing came; and I am now in better health than I can ever remember. During this time many minor discords disappeared, severe headaches and dental trouble among them. I progressed rapidly in the work I had undertaken, and had constant proofs of God's guidance and love.
