Ten years ago, to human sense, I was a nervous and physical wreck. After months of medical treatment, and an experience in a hospital, I came home no better, but worse. While sitting despondent and alone one day, I said aloud that there must be some thought in this world besides sickness, and the answer came to my consciousness so quickly that I was afraid, because it seemed as though someone had spoken to me. The answer was, Try Christian Science.
Up to this time I had had nothing but criticism for Christian Science. I had never been in a Christian Science church, and did not even know a practitioner by name or sight. We had the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as a curiosity, and that evening as it was handed to me I said, I will see if there is anything to it. There was instantaneous healing! I slept that night like a little child, and awakened the next morning perfectly free from sickness. All the weakness had fled, and I wanted to walk, to run, to eat. It seemed as though I was as light as air, I was so happy. I dressed and went out of doors to call on my people, and when they came to admit me into the house they acted as though I were a person raised from the dead. To their understanding it was a miracle, but it was divinely natural because I had turned whole-heartedly to God and had laid aside my criticism of Christian Science. I had read up to page 410, lines 29 and 30, of the textbook when this wonderful healing came to me. Since this time my two children and I have made a continuous study of Christian Science, always finding help for our every need. We have had many a testing time to prove our faith in God, but have never wavered, although many times the struggle has seemed severe; and we have always come out victorious.
