Kansas

The articles which have appeared in the Star and other papers, in which a well-known Kansas City woman who was a member of the Christian Science church has been mentioned in connection with a notorious cult in California, may give the impression that the book she financed, entitled "The Sixth Seal," written by the head of that cult, has some connection with the teachings of Christian Science. It should be understood that the book is at variance with Mrs. Eddy's teachings.

Sometimes individuals seeking personal aggrandizement, on gaining some knowledge of the letter of Christian Science, pervert that knowledge and endeavor to deceive others with what they claim to be an improvement on Christian Science. Occasionally they brazenly make use of the term "Christian Science" in endeavoring to establish their systems, and unfortunately succeed in deceiving a few persons who are not sufficiently grounded in the spirit of Christian Science to detect the adulteration. The Christianly restraining influence of Mrs. Eddy's Manual of The Mother Church actuates the lives of all true Christian Scientists, and this Church Manual governs every activity of the Christian Science organization.
