"Let there be light"

"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." What inspiration and illumination are in this statement of God's perfect creation! Christian Science throws light on what is already accomplished, already finished, not on some new idea of God; for Truth is ever existent and shines forth as spiritual light or understanding.

When Mary Baker Eddy discovered the truth about Christ, Truth, which dispels erroneous beliefs, she was following in the footsteps of the great Master, Christ Jesus, who spent many of his days on earth in revealing God and in overcoming sin, disease, and death; and her textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," was written under divine guidance and inspiration.

This textbook is open for all to read, but there are many who are under grave misapprehensions as to the truth about the Christian Science movement and its Leader. In order to help mankind, Mrs. Eddy instituted various activities, including the Board of Lectureship, through which to present the truths of Christian Science. Thus, a Christian Science lecture comes to a community as an angel-message of glad tidings and of hope of redemption from all discord. It can be likened to a signpost on a long and sometimes dreary road, pointing the way to a place where the weary ones can find rest, refreshment, and comfort, and correcting the hopeless outlook which sees only the length of the road lying before the traveler.
