Thinking over the many blessings which have come to...

Thinking over the many blessings which have come to me since taking up the study of Christian Science, I can no longer refrain from giving my testimony, that it may help others as it has helped me.

It is a little over four years since I took up this study, and the blessings which have come to me in that short time are many. The disease of which I was first healed had been diagnosed as neuritis, which made its appearance after a surgical operation for tumor. The disease caused my right arm to become stiff and very painful; I could not raise it high enough to comb my hair. In this condition I was unable to sleep or rest without binding my arm tightly with adhesive tape from wrist to elbow; for this seemed to give me relief for a few hours, and rest was prescribed by the physician as the only cure.

After enduring this for several months I decided to try Christian Science, so purchased a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read for several days without understanding, though confident that the book contained the truth of which I was so much in need. I continued reading, and in about a week's time found myself using sentences which I had read; and they were helping me. I became so absorbed in my reading that I completely forgot about my physical condition until one morning, when asked how I felt, I declared that I felt fine and remembered I had been sleeping well. Upon feeling my arm, I found that all pain and stiffness had left it completely. Rejoicing that I had found the truth and the freedom which it gives, I lived many months in the high and secret place; for, as the Psalmist puts it, I had "made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High" my habitation. But only too soon I found I had to descend into the valley to work upward through spiritual understanding; and in this way Christian Science has met my every need. When sorrow encompassed me, I was comforted by the truth; when friends seemed to prove faithless and enemies slandered, I was given strength to endure, at times being compelled to seek higher ground. At other times I was led to see my own shortcomings and mistakes, and given the glorious comfort of a strong sense of Truth's correction, not condemnation. I am rejoicing daily that "all things are become new," and am happily working on to the realization of God's kingdom already come.
