Before knowing anything about Christian Science I loved...

Before knowing anything about Christian Science I loved to read the New Testament, to attend church, and to teach in a Sunday school connected with a Nonconformist church. In spite of this, many questions presented themselves to which there seemed to be no answer. When I first read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, it was the logic and reasonableness of the statements contained therein which appealed to me; and even during the first reading many questions were answered. It was after I read the book through, and when understanding very little about Christian Science, that I was healed in one treatment from a Christian Science practitioner of constipation, a difficulty from which I had suffered all my life; and since that time I have had splendid health.

I feel very grateful for the wisdom which led Mrs. Eddy to establish The Christian Science Monitor. I know that the reading of this newspaper is gradually healing me of narrow and selfish thinking, and is giving me a wider outlook and a clearer idea of the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. For the peace and joy which this change of thought is bringing, an inward peace which is not affected by any seeming outward condition, I feel deeply grateful.—(Mrs.) Marian McDougall, Manchester, Lancashire, England.
