Supply and Demand

We are all acquainted with the law which seems to operate in the business world to control prices, commonly known as the law of supply and demand. We note, however, that values are constantly fluctuating; and at times there seems to be a serious lack of balance between supply on the one hand and demand on the other. Seldom, if ever, in the material realm are supply and demand more than approximately equalized to the satisfaction of all concerned.

In direct contrast to this so-called material law, which is so variable, unstable, and at times inequitable in its action, Christian Science presents the divine law of supply and demand, which is ever operating to bless all who recognize and come into harmony with it through right thinking and living. The divine law of supply and demand is impartial, since God, as the Bible teaches, "is no respecter of persons;" and in the practical application of this law to human need supply is always equal to demand, since all cause and effect proceed from and belong to God, and He governs all harmoniously.

Christian Science teaches that all that is necessary for the comfort, happiness, and well-being of men is comprised within the true understanding of God and His spiritual creation; and it meets the need of mortals by giving them a more correct concept of Deity, clearly revealing God as unlimited, universal Love or divine Mind, and His creation as that which manifests the divine nature. As a general rule, however, mortals will not turn to God for supply until material ways and means have utterly failed to satisfy them or to meet their human needs. Often they are divinely driven to seek a source outside their limited human sense of things; and in Christian Science they find the knowledge of God and His laws, which operates to annul and destroy the false material beliefs which hold them in bondage, and replaces these limiting beliefs with true spiritual ideas, which manifest God's bounty and goodness.
