I was suffering from lead poisoning and another disease, pronounced incurable by doctors, for about a year, during which time I was under medical care; and the condition finally resulted in complete loss of reason. I was taken to two medical hospitals, but my physical and mental condition grew worse. My brothers then placed me in a home where I received loving care, and at the same time had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. At the end of four weeks I regained my reason and awoke to find my brother seated at my bedside reading to me from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, a book I had never seen or heard of before. My body, which had been covered with sores, was completely healed during the four weeks I was under Christian Science treatment.

It is something over four years since I was healed. Since that healing the tobacco habit of many years' standing has left me; also the gambling and drinking habits and the use of profane language. A year ago I weighed one hundred and twenty-four pounds, I now weigh one hundred and eighty-six pounds.

Words cannot express my gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, to Mary Baker Eddy, to the kind practitioner, and to all those who have helped me on my way. Since my healing I have been an earnest student of Christian Science and feel that I have started on the upward way.
