A year or two ago I suffered greatly from hemorrhages. I had asked for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner who had helped me instantaneously in other cases of sickness, but this time the error did not yield. It seemed as though it grew worse. But I knew that God is our Life, and that nothing has power to destroy that Life. Hence, the fault was mine, and I must try to recognize the error or erroneous belief which was trying to prevent the healing.

When my husband returned home one evening, I told him that the hemorrhages were much worse. We began to investigate the cause, and in our innermost thoughts, hidden far back, we found the error. We had assumed the right of judging and condemning our neighbor, although our Master says, "Judge not, that ye be not judged." We were trying to remove the mote from our neighbor's eye, and did not consider the beam in our own. The very moment we recognized this the error disappeared, and the hemorrhage stopped. I told my husband I was healed. So it may not always be the practitioner, we concluded, who is at fault if we are not healed at once. We must work with the practitioner, and diligently seek the evil hiding in our consciousness; and when we have done our work well, the reward will follow.
