Nine years ago I was in a hospital receiving medical treatment. When released from the hospital I was in a very much weakened condition. My health seemed wrecked, due to the powerful drugs which had been given me. Then, unexpectedly, I was forced to sell all my belongings. There immediately followed a time when all joy, pleasure, happiness, and home seemed to be crowded from my life. The next July, though on the verge of a nervous breakdown, I accepted a position that involved my doing work for which I had not been trained. My working hours were so long I had scarcely any leisure time. In my weakened condition I seemed to contract frequent and heavy colds. At this time an acquaintance called my attention to Christian Science. Gradually, as I learned to reverse the belief of grief, the neurasthenic condition improved, and some joy and spontaneity returned. It was then that I received a shock of such a nature that I seemed to lose all power of expression. This condition was aggravated by conditions over which I had no control. A complete collapse seemed inevitable at times. But with the loving and patient help of a practitioner my understanding increased, and I was enabled to be at work nearly every day. I have had but one heavy cold in three years. I was next led to take class instruction with a loyal teacher; for which privilege I am exceedingly grateful. I am grateful for the healing which has come to me, and grateful also to Mary Baker Eddy for the wonderful teachings of Christian Science.
