[Original testimony in German]

When I first heard of Christian Science I was a long way...

When I first heard of Christian Science I was a long way from the kingdom of God, and self-righteousness, self-will, and self-love have had to be set aside. I was also very much dissatisfied and nervous on account of a physical disease of long standing. In spite of this I was able to attend to my work; and this was due to the pleasure I took in it and to the lack of confidence I had in material remedies. But I grew more discontented from day to day, and felt very unhappy. I began to pray, what I thought was prayer at that time; and about a year later I heard of Christian Science. I was immediately convinced of the truth of its teaching, so I bought the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to study it.

I should like to say that I had never been in the habit of reading anything; and for a long time the textbook was almost the only literature I could read for hours at a time. I soon felt the strength inherent in its lines, and was able to throw away my cigar with the remark, "That is the last." A great desire for card playing ended in the same manner a little later. I was able to give up alcohol about a year and a half ago; but the other evils were more stubborn: I had first to learn to love. As long as I continued to blame, judge. and criticize others I made slow progress; but I am now happy, because my thinking has improved, and I know that in time these errors will disappear.

I am free from the stubborn physical suffering, and I am grateful that the power of divine Love removed quickly old errors which reasserted themselves recently. I am also very happy to have made such progress in understanding that I am privileged to be a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. My dear wife, who had suffered from severe headaches and other troubles, and who is now healed, loyally supports and strengthens me in my progress. I shall be glad to be one of those who are known by their fruits; and I am grateful for the understanding of infinite Love.—Albert Keller-Kuhn, Lindau, Ct. Zurich, Switzerland.
