Adjustment

MANY times mortals endeavor to adjust things to their way of thinking, and try to bring about in the manner that pleases them best certain results which they desire, regardless of how others may be affected thereby. True, adjustment does mean mere activity; but activity toward that which is just or right. How, then, is one to move that all may be blessed and none injured?

When a student of Christian Science feels that some adjustment is necessary in his life, he does not make the error of believing that it is a condition of matter that needs to be adjusted. That which cries out for help may call itself a business problem, a domestic problem, or a problem of health or supply; but he knows that what really needs adjusting is his thinking, that his consciousness must be made to conform to God, divine Principle, in order to bring good into his affairs. So he goes to work to adjust his thinking to accord with Principle, God.

Every time an adjustment is made to Principle, progress is made. Each student may mark his progress by the increasing number of adjustments he makes in accordance with the rules of true thinking through divine Science. The development of Christian Science and the growth made in the movement during the past years, are due to the increase in spiritual adjustments.
