Through the study and application of Christian Science...
Through the study and application of Christian Science as given to the world by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings, I have been healed of insomnia, extreme nervousness, and tuberculosis of the lungs. My father and my sister both passed on with the last-mentioned trouble, and this gave me a great deal more fear to overcome in my thinking. I had spent two years in Denver, Colorado, seeking health before knowing anything of the teachings of Christian Science. I was finally guided to a practitioner. I was very desirous of being healed, and wanted to know something about how healing was brought about in Christian Science without using material remedies. I had tried nearly all of the remedies that I had ever heard of. The practitioner explained Christian Science to me in such a simple manner that I was able to work out the problem. I kept knowing the truth every day. Many weeks before I realized I had been healed, I kept thanking God that I was whole. Finally it dawned on my thought that my lungs could not speak to me, so I knew it was mortal mind that was claiming to talk, and that it was a lie. The louder mortal mind would talk to me, the more I kept thanking God that I was well. One evening while I was thanking God for all the blessings that had come to me, and that I was well and knew it, it dawned on my consciousness that I had been healed; and at once I saw the nothingness of that disease. Then I realized what Jesus meant when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
