In your recent issue you have a short article on a lecture which was given in Linköping on "Mormonism and Christian Science," in which the views of the lecturer imply that there is a similarity between Mormonism and Christian Science and that they both lay great emphasis on faith healing. The lecturer calls "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy's Bible, and he also implies that Christian Science is not Christianity and therefore has no salvation to offer. Now, Christian Science is more than faith healing. On page 297 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Until belief becomes faith, and faith becomes spiritual understanding, human thought has little relation to the actual or divine." The spiritual interpretation of the Bible as gained from Science and Health enables one to get the spiritual understanding of God as ever present and ever available to mankind, in sickness as well as in health.

Science and Health is the textbook of Christian Science; it is not a Bible, and has never been considered one either by Mrs. Eddy or by any other Christian Scientist. It in no way supplants the Bible, but rests upon it. The study of Science and Health increases one's interest in and love for the Bible. There cannot be found more earnest, constant students of the Bible than are Christian Scientists. The Bible declares that Christ Jesus came to "destroy the works of the devil," or, in other words, to bring full salvation from all evil. Judging from the sin, crime, vice, misery, unhappiness, sorrow, sickness, suffering, and poverty we see on all sides, it is evident that humanity has not been delivered from these evils, or the "carnal mind." The need for deliverance is just as great to-day as it was in Jesus' time, and Christian Science, being in full accord with the teachings of Christ Jesus, is offering and accomplishing full salvation through the understanding that evil is not of God, and that only through the spiritual understanding of Him as all good, and only good, can mankind be delivered from the discords of human experience here and now. Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
