[Written for the Sentinel]

"Be not afraid"

"Be not afraid"! O heart, through storms of time
Thy Father dear
Is ever near thee; He is Love divine,
Calming thy fear!

"Be not afraid," though dark the clouds may seem
Over thy way;
Lift up thy gaze, and thou wilt see Love's beam
Of glorious day.

"Be not afraid," though doubts may seem to come.
Hast ever found
Thy Father fail thee? Not whilst ages run
Their endless round.

Father omnipotent, I place my hand
All confident in Thine,
That I may guided be to Thy fair land
Of Love divine.
