When I stop to think of the many blessings which our family and I have received during the last eight years, since studying Christian Science, it fills me with gratitude unspeakable. We have five small children, and not one of them has ever had any medicine since our eldest daughter was two days old. Our youngest daughter has been healed of a protruding rectum; our two youngest boys were healed of gatherings in their ears last winter. Our eldest son, while playing on the ice with other children, fell and badly cut his lower lip. My husband and the teacher who brought him home wanted to have some stitches taken. I said, "No, God has always helped us before, and will now if we trust in Him." The thought at once came to me, "God is here," and this removed the sense of fear. I then repeated "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, also the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation, as found on pages 16 and 17 of the same book, for several days and nights; and at the end of ten days the boy's lip was perfectly healed, to the amazement of both teacher and school children.
Last, but by no means least, our eldest daughter was knocked down and run over by an automobile on her way to school. When I first saw her I failed to realize God's presence and was at once filled with fear. I tried to say "the scientific statement of being," but could not. The doctor's wife, who is a Christian Scientist, lovingly came and offered to help her. I studied the Lesson-Sermon that afternoon and worked the best I knew how. The next day I wrote to a practitioner for help, which was very lovingly given. In two weeks after the accident our daughter was back at school.
I feel very grateful to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and also to the practitioners who have always been very willing to help me. The Sentinel and the Monitor are very much appreciated. All the children love to hear the beautiful pieces of poetry found in them.—
