Several times I had heard about Christian Science, but I never thought it could mean anything to me, until a very dear brother passed on, and I was both mentally and physically broken down. I then accompanied a friend to a Christian Science service; and I shall never forget what a deep impression this service made on me. I had gone to church mainly to please my friend, but in consequence of all I heard during the service I had a feeling that here I could get an answer to many questions. Since my youth I had read books on theology and philosophy to know more about Truth, but had never been satisfied. Now I began to visit the Christian Science church and to read the Lesson-Sermons and other Christian Science literature.

I have not words to express my gratitude for all I have gained through this study. Soon after I had begun it I became mentally elevated and physically strong. I have also been healed almost instantaneously of Spanish influenza by reading the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Once when I had hurt my leg so that I could not at first stand on my feet, I regained strength by trying to realize the truth given in "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). Severe colds, which used to come several times during winter, have left me. Some years ago, when I had made a reality of error, my heart became very weak; but with the help of a dear practitioner and my own work the difficulty was overcome.

I am deeply grateful for the above-mentioned and other healings I have experienced, but still more for the spiritual blessings. Christian Science has taught me to see God as omnipresent and omnipotent Love, and with this new view follows a feeling of safety and happiness which nothing can disturb. Through the study of the Bible in the light of Christian Science I can now understand many passages, in which I had not previously seen any meaning. And Christian Science helps me to discern the connection between cause and effect, and that nothing happens by chance, since Principle governs.
