[Written for the Sentinel]

"Peace, be still"

There comes a stillness in the heart,
Like twilight after rain,
When gloom is gone, and mists depart,
And new hope smiles again.

As softly as the springtide's breath,
Sweet quietude creeps in,
And scenes in olden Nazareth,
Appear above earth's din.

The heavy duty and the task,
That burden with their care,
Grow lighter if we only ask
Love's help, in silent prayer.

There comes a stillness in the heart,
Quite like that calm, clear sea,
When Jesus bade the storm depart,
And walked on Galilee!
