Having often been helped by the testimonies given in the...
Having often been helped by the testimonies given in the Christian Science periodicals, I am sending this in the hope that it may benefit others. Although I did not commence the study of Christian Science for the sake of receiving healing, but rather because I was seeking a religion which would satisfy, I, in common with so many others, have experienced healing of various kinds. Minor ills, which material remedies had relieved, but not destroyed, have entirely disappeared; while more serious troubles have been overcome, sometimes in their early stages, sometimes more slowly, and sometimes through the help lovingly given by Christian Science practitioners.
Some years ago I was almost instantaneously healed of influenza while reading the Lesson-Sermon; and on other occasions discords of different kinds have vanished immediately when the truth has been clearly seen. The fear of thunderstorms and, to a large extent, nervousness, which had held me in bondage all my life, have been overcome. When I commenced to study Christian Science I was suffering from defective memory, but this condition was soon destroyed by knowing that "God is the only Mind," as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 339). I know that as I learn more and more to do as Paul exhorted the Philippians to do, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus," yet more of the goodness of God will be unfolded and made manifest in my life.
I am grateful for our Leader's steadfast obedience in giving us this truth and providing us so wisely with all that is necessary for our growth in Christian Science. I am grateful to the practitioners for their loving work, to the writers of the articles for the periodicals, and to those who are watching and working to carry on the great work of The Mother Church with all its activities. I am grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and know that this can be expressed only by striving daily to walk more closely in the way shown by Christ Jesus, in accordance with the teaching of the Bible as explained by Mrs. Eddy's writings.—
