The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

New York, New York (First Church).

Lecturer: Mrs. Nelvia E. Ritchie; introduced by Charles F. MacIntosh, who said:—

The teachings of Christian Science are awakening many to these words of Christ Jesus: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." When I first turned to Christian Science for help I was sure that I wanted all the other things first. But through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I found myself seeking the kingdom of God first; and it was then I was healed of tuberculosis, and was also regenerated morally.

Christian Science will solve world problems as well as those of the individual, proving the truth of these words, to be found in Science and Health (p. 571): "The cement of a higher humanity will unite all interests in the one divinity."

Kent, Washington (joint lecture, Kent and Des Moines).

Lecturer: Prof. Hermann S. Hering; introduced by Mrs. Mary E. Collins, who said:—

As recorded in the fourteenth chapter of John, Jesus the Christ said, "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." Thousands of people all over the world are able to rise up to-day and testify that they have found this promised Comforter in Christian Science. Only a few years ago, while visiting my sisters in Indiana, at their request I was examined by a physician, who told my sisters there was nothing that could be done for me. In a short time I returned to my own home on the coast, weary and heavy-laden. Within a month a kind neighbor lent me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Through the study of this textbook I found the truth which heals all disease; and I, too, can stand with the thousands of others and say, "I have found the Comforter."
