For a better understanding of God, good health, cheerfulness,...
For a better understanding of God, good health, cheerfulness, and numerous other blessings brought to me by Christian Science, I wish to give deep thanks, with the hope that others reading of its influence in my life may learn of the truth also. Before coming into Christian Science I had nine years of more and more limiting invalidism, much of the time being spent at sanitariums and a hospital. One day I walked the room in extremity, saying over and over again, "God, You have got to help me." It was soon afterwards that I heard of a nurse interested in Christian Science, who had been sent to take care of my invalid mother. When I went to join them it was with a sense of expectancy of the good I knew that Christian Science would bring to us.
Now my life is transformed and sun-filled through the wonderful Bible promises fulfilled by scientific application. It has taken loving, patient work by practitioners to overcome recurring insanity, disturbed breathing and heart action, contracted glands, eyestrain, backaches, fatigue, and insomnia. My mother also has been greatly helped through Christian Science. She has been able to be home for two and a half years, which is the first time in twenty-seven years that she has been entirely free from mental illness. When the vest pocket edition of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy that had been sent for came, I first thought to have it exchanged on account of the small print. Instead, I was led to keep it and soon took off glasses that had been worn for years to read by.
It has been such a joy to prove that the power of God is equal "to the pulling down of strong holds." There is not anything in life that can compare with the illumination and inspiration that Christian Science gives, enabling us to bless others and to fulfill Christ Jesus' words, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
