The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (First Church).

Lecturer: The Rev. Andrew J. Graham; introduced by Miss Grace L. Williams, who said:—

To those who have heard of Christian Science for the first time certain questions are likely to present themselves. Among them may be these: What is it? What does it do? And possibly no more concise and complete answer could be given than in Mrs. Eddy's own words, where she defines Christian Science, in "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 1), as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony." Before taking up the study of Christian Science I scarcely knew what it meant to have good health; but an understanding of the law of good has brought into my experience that state of health, harmony, and happiness which is the rightful heritage of the children of God. Obedience to the law of good enabled me about nine years ago to lay aside spectacles which had been worn for more than eleven years. Hundreds of thousands the world over can bear testimony to the beneficial effects of Christian Science; for every known disease has been healed by the application of the law of God, good, which it reveals.
