Preaching at Sandgate Wesleyan Church, a minister...

Folkestone Herald

Preaching at Sandgate Wesleyan Church, a minister is reported in your recent issue to have said, "Supposing they accepted Christian Science and believed that God was a principle, and not a person, that there were no such things as sin and sickness,.... which was the Christian Science view, they would find a lot of difficulties, because that was not the Bible view at all." Christian Science teaches that God is divine Principle, meaning by that the divine cause, origin, and source of all reality. It also teaches, in conjunction with the Scriptures, that God is infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. God cannot be circumscribed within a finite personality. God is considered in Christian Science as possessing infinite personality.

Again, to say that there are no such things as sin and sickness, and leave it at that, is not Christian Science, which teaches that these are manifestations of error which must be overcome by the knowledge of Truth. Christian Scientists are earnest students of the Bible, who are striving to gain the spiritual meaning of the Sciptures. They know that when Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also," he meant what he said; and they feel that all true Christian should be known by the signs which he said should follow those who believed on him.
