I wish to acknowledge with reverence and praise the goodness of God as revealed to us in Christian Science.
It did not occur to me that Christian Science would bring me physical healing of any kind, although I had seen and admitted a healing of organic disease through its ministration. I merely had a half-hearted thought that the book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, might possibly throw some light on the problem of existence, a problem I was finding complex and sorrowful. I began to read Science and Health at the chapter on Prayer. Its simplicity, its clarity, its calm certainty of hope, quieted my restless questioning, relaxed my fears, and established in me a conviction of the truth therein revealed.
My first physical healing was from fever. After one treatment from a Christian Science practitioner I got up and dressed; and with the amazed discovery that I had my normal strength, I went about my day as usual. Some time later I experienced an instantaneous healing of a badly wrenched ankel. The same foot had been hurt once before, and the physician, reluctantly consenting to remove the plaster cast at the end of two weeks, had warned me to be very careful. At this later time the foot was more seriously injured, and the pain and swelling became far more extreme; but five minutes after my husband telephoned to a practitioner, the pain was gone. The following day I walked as usual, scarcely remembering the occurrence except to be thankful.
