[Original testimony in German]

In 1920, God led me to Christian Science

In 1920, God led me to Christian Science. For several years I had been troubled with facial neuralgia in a severe form, which no physician could heal. Owing to continual pain, day and night, my nerves seemed ruined. A dear practitioner gave me treatment, and gradually I was completely healed. Error claimed to be too deeply rooted in my consciousness to disappear instantaneously, but one night I awoke perfectly free from pain. I could hardly believe it; and to my great joy my healing has been permanent. After so many years of pain it seemed like a miracle. The condition of my nerves also improved quickly.

Some time ago I was unfortunate enough to swallow a small splinter of bone, which stuck in my throat, causing great pain. I immediately applied several remedies to dislocate it, but without avail. My throat became swollen, and I had high fever. I could not eat anything substantial. This alarming condition lasted for three days. Then in my fear I consulted a physician; but he could not help me. His efforts to remove the splinter were unsuccessful. I then turned to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help, which was at once lovingly given. My general condition improved at once; the fever left me; I could eat again; and I noticed that the splinter had disappeared. I have never had any more trouble with my throat. I give this testimony in sincere gratitude to God. Through this experience the healing power of Christian Science was clearly proved to me.

My heart is always filled with gratitude that God led me so wonderfully; and I always think of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, with sincere love and reverence.—(Mrs.) Sophie Hartmann, Schwerin, Mecklenburg, Germany.
