The Lectures

Birmingham, England (Second Church).

Lecturer: John Randall Dunn; introduced by Mrs. Lily M. Parham, who said:—

Most people will agree that mankind's chief enemy is fear. A story was once told of a man who, thinking that his earthly existence was drawing to a close, called his children round him and said, "I have had a lot of trouble in my life—a lot of trouble, but most of it never happened." This story serves to show that usually the main part of trouble is the fear of it. Yet the Bible tells us: "Fear not," "Be not afraid;" and Paul said, "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Now, Christian Science teaches us how we can avail ourselves of these three gifts; how we can apply them to the affairs of everyday life, and so begin to solve our problems.
